Welcome to the 2012 Salt River Long Rifle Encampment! We are glad you are able to join us for the weekend. We hope these guidelines will help with any questions that may arise during our events.
Due to the cost of gunpowder for prizes we asking for a $5.00 entry fee for woods walk matches.
Woods Walk Guidelines
Woods walk will be shot using 15 numbered targets assembled on the course.
Participants will assemble a group of 4 to 6. Of the participants 1 SRLR member will act as Range Officer/Scorekeeper. The volunteer if shooting may pass the scoring sheet to another participant while he shoots.
Groups will proceed through the course at A SPACING OF 5 TARGETS (approximately 30 minute intervals). This should allow an average course time of 2 hours for 12 – 16 shooters to complete the course.
Shooter to stand at line marker.
Scoring as follows: Each target will have a score value of 1 point. The participant with the highest total score wins. In the event of a tie the following guidelines will be used: The shooter with the longest consecutive string of hits wins. If this is also tied then the decision will fall to the 1st target missed starting with target #1.
Tomahawk Throw Guidelines
Participant throwing may throw from any distance as long as the tomahawk when thrown completes approximately 1 and ½ revolutions before striking target. Target will be standard playing card.
3 throws per participant will be scored. The first 2 throws maybe discarded if the participant feels he/she can better the score. 2 more throws will be allowed.
Scoring as follows: Cutting card completely into – 5 points, Cutting card – 3 points, Sticking tomahawk in block – 1 point.
Fire Starting Guidelines
Participant will start fire with flint and steel using any period char and tinder.
Participant may use their own kindling (wood shavings, punk wood, leaves, etc…)
Scoring as follows: Time starts with first strike on flint and stops when cord has burned into.
